Grapho-Lock: User's Manual

Signature Add-in Software to Microsoft office (2003 to 2007)

The aim of this add-in is to provide an easy way to author any document produced from any Microsoft office Suite software. The tool adds a new signature menu in the software.
The main principle is easy to understand : Add a handwritten signature to author any document and seal the document with a digital signature time-stamped with a reliable timestamp which does not rely on the local computer clock. (both graphical and digital signatures hold the same unique time-stamp (internet web service time-Stamp provided by Grapho-lock server)

To use basic functions of the signature add-in you do not need any additional hardware, so that any computer running XP or Vista with Microsoft Office 2003 to 2007 can benefit from the signature Tool Add-in developed by Grapho-Lock.

The add-in is distributed for free, fully functional , the only drawback of the free release will be a sentence printed under any of your signature :

This document has been sealed using Grapho-Lock technology, gathering both graphical legacy signature and digital signature time-stamped with the same reliable time-stamp. To get more information about how to check the security of this document click on the verify button beside the signature or visit our website. You can download the free release fully functional of Grapho-lock signature add-in at www.grapho-lock.com

In order to suppress this sentence you will just have to acquire a licence for the software.(Price TBD).

For further convenience you will then be able to take benefit of several hardware such as Wacom digitizer or fingerprints scanner (those supported by 123ID middleware) . These hardware can provide you with additional means of authentication, to restraint impersonation of your authoring tool.

User enrolment (top rightmost item of the menu)

First of all you have to enrol a user profile, which will associate a graphical signature with your digital identity enclosed in some X509 v3 Certificate (PKI Scheme)

The X509 certificate can be provided by :

  • any Certificate authority (trusted certificates)
  • or created straight within the software (self-signed or private CA certificates)

Means to provide your handwritten signature in the User profile:

  • Scanning a signed document, and cropping the image around your signature
  • Provide an image of your signature you’d have already
  • Captured dynamically by mean of a digitizer

Usage of your graphical signature will be protected by an authentication mean :

  • Password authentification
  • Fingerprints authentification through 123 ID CVT (enrolment from the enrolment wizard)
  • Dynamic signature authentification (actually only Wacom Intuous 2 digitizer support need to extend support to Wacom Intuous 3 : small driver issues to be solved)

If you have no digitizer you can nevertheless use the signature add-in loading a scanned image of your signature as default signature.

You are enroled !
